I have been a Los Angeles resident for more than 15 years, and I admit that there are still areas of this urban sprawl that I have yet to discover. Case in point: The Huntington Library in Pasadena. It’s a shame that it’s taken me more than a decade to see this place.
My friends and I had the opportunity a few weekends ago to explore the area, and the gardens took our breath away, particularly the Japanese Garden. The attention to detail was incredible, so much so that I felt goosebumps as waves of nostalgia washed over me. It truly made me feel as if I teleported back to Japan. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to see the entire place (which was HUGE!), so we’re planning a second visit sometime in the spring.

In Southern California, “cold weather” is defined when temperatures drop below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Yesterday happen to fall into the said category, allowing me to finally pull out my sweaters out of the back corners of my closet.
This cowl-neck oversized sweater from Banana Republic is one of my absolute favorites. It’s thick, it’s warm, it’s oversized. Sweaters have a tendency to make the wearer look “lazy” but this one does the opposite. If anything, I feel more polished and put-together!
Fun Fact: I own a Banana Republic credit card, which I get rewards on for purchases I make. I receive a $10 reward card for every $200 I spend elsewhere. This sweater was on final sale for $30.00, and after using with my rewards, I paid merely $0.79! Even the associates’ minds were blown. W I N N E R. I love scoring a good bargain!

Venice Beach, CA
October 16, 2014
Last Thursday, my best friend, Justine and I headed to Venice Beach for a change of scenery. This green fence caught my eye, and a mini-photoshoot ensued. It contrasts well with my newly colored red hair, don’t you think?

El Matador Beach, California
With summer almost coming to an end, my cousin and I packed our beach bags, had a joy ride along the Pacific Coast Highway and headed to beautiful El Matador Beach.
Just a few miles north of Malibu, El Matador Beach showcases towering cliffs and enormous rock formations, making one question whether they’re in Southern California at all! The crashing waves splashing against the rocks make the beach a perfect spot for a scenic photoshoot!
Most people tend to shy away from monochromatic outfits that aren’t black and/or white because they’re harder to pull off. Dressing head-to-toe in non-neutral tones can very easily make the wearer look like they are wearing a costume.
To avoid looking like Mint Power Ranger, I balanced my printed polo with plain pants and added splashes of cobalt to contrast with the pastel.
