Life List #3: Skydive

After 25 (and a half) long years, I finally crossed off one of my top bucket list items: skydive!

Back in May, I came across a Groupon deal for Go Jump Oceanside, offering tandem jump for only $130.00. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity, so I purchased the coupon and immediately set up my appointment! I arrived bright and early at Go Jump Oceanside, and from the time I signed my life away (liability waiver) to finishing the jump itself took about 3 hours. Plus, my tandem pilot, Brent, was a complete professional (having done over 7,000k jumps!), so I knew he was solid. I felt 100% confident in putting my life in his hands. Although he did joke, “If our parachute won’t open, flap your arms!” Comedy.

If it’s both terrifying and amazing then you should definitely pursue it. – Erada

There’s no better feeling than like jolting your soul awake every once in a while. Nothing could have prepared me for the indescribable sensation of jumping out of a plane from 13,000ft up in the air and free-falling to the ground. The feelings and motions you go through emotionally and physically are so far beyond the range of normal everyday feelings you experience as an Earthling.

The euphoria is so unique it belongs in a completely separate league. Nothing — literally NOTHING — I have ever felt in 25 years on Earth has come close. There is truly no other sensation I can compare it to, because it doesn’t exist! Even riding the most extreme roller coaster would only be a mere 1/100th of that feeling. The thrill and adrenaline rush of seeing the world from above is an experience I will never ever forget. The world was so big, and I felt so small, so vulnerable… in the best possible way.

It was a first, and it sure won’t be the last.
